teachers, welcome to bank high school's stock market simulation!!
Looking for an easy way to help your students experience the stock market? (Not just learn about it, experience it?) It's easily added to many of your business-related lesson plans.
This simulation uses real ticker symbols from the markets in New York City. Price quotes are updated every 20 minutes and individual portfolios every afternoon. Just show your students how to do a little research, plan a "buy" in stocks or mutual funds, and turn them loose!
Just look at the advantages of this great new teaching tool:
Flexible timing (Start as soon as you want to!)
Individuals play. No requirement for team play.
It's FREE!!
It's not restricted to age or grade level. (Get their parents to play too.)
To orient you to the site...
- Look over the home page to see helpful links down the left side - Rules and Glossary, Common Ticker Symbols for buying stocks, symbols for buying mutual funds, tips on how to find symbols and make purchases and two others for "Help."
- Each player will use actual ticker symbols for making their transactions. Data for the quotes are updated every 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the exchange.
- Use the "Log In Here" box the first time to set up a private account with just a name and password. Each player will be given a unique numerical account number and password to maintain privacy.
- Each person is playing as an individual, using his/her wits and best guesses to increase the value of a portfolio based on actual market conditions and quotations. All portfolios will be updated every afternoon shortly after the school day ends.
Oh and what about you? Ever wish you could "play the market"? You can play right along with your students. Each of you gets play money --- $100,000 in fictional funds to play with...no risk, no penalty... just have fun while learning about the stock market and how it works.
Now click below to help your students learn how to manage investment money, with realism and ease online, while having fun. Have fun right along with them!! If you have suggestions to improve this part of our site, please let us know.
